The glamourously named Golden Peony 金牡丹 is a cross breed between two famous Fujianese oolong cultivars: Tie Kwan Yin and Huang Jin Gui. Registered in Fujian in 2003, it was initially processed into oolongs, but these days also made into black teas or hongchas. This batch, harvested from Ningde in Fujian from an altitude of 600-800 masl, produces a milky-textured brew embedded with intense notes of scented wood and a perfumy tangerine nose! No sugar and milk please! Best drank neat to enjoy the textured flavours!
